Activate Butler

This guide walks you through the initial setup of your viewneo Butler. The process consists of two steps: connecting the Butler to your local network and assigning it to a player in the viewneo CMS.

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • A viewneo Butler hardware unit.
  • A network cable (Ethernet).
  • Access to the same local network as your viewneo player.
  • A power outlet near the installation location.
  • An active viewneo account with the Butler Plugin enabled.
  1. Connect the Butler to your local network using a standard Ethernet cable.
  2. Plug the Butler into a power outlet using the included power adapter.
  3. Wait for the Butler to boot up. The indicator LED will signal when the device is ready.

The Butler will automatically register itself on the network. No manual IP configuration is required — the Butler uses DHCP to obtain a network address.

Once the Butler is connected to the network, it will appear in the viewneo CMS automatically.

  1. Log in to your viewneo account at cms.viewneo.com.
  2. Navigate to Devices in the main menu.
  3. Locate the Butler in your device list. It will appear as a new, unassigned device.
  4. Click on the Butler entry to open its settings.
  5. Assign the Butler to the appropriate device group or directly to a specific player.

After assignment, verify that the Butler is online and communicating correctly:

  1. In the CMS, navigate to the Butler’s device detail page.
  2. Check that the status indicator shows Online.
  3. Note the firmware version displayed — you may need this for troubleshooting or updates.

If the Butler shows as Offline, try the following:

  • Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected.
  • Confirm the Butler has power (check the LED indicator).
  • Restart the Butler by unplugging and re-plugging the power adapter.
  • Ensure no network firewall is blocking the Butler’s connection.
