Keeping your Butler firmware up to date ensures compatibility with the latest viewneo CMS features, improves stability and fixes potential security issues. This page explains how to check your current firmware version and perform updates.

Check the Firmware Version

1. Log in to the viewneo CMS at cms.viewneo.com.
2. Navigate to Devices and select your Butler.
3. Open the Device Info or Settings panel.
4. The current firmware version is shown in the device details.

Tip

Note your current firmware version before starting an update. This is helpful if you need to contact support for troubleshooting.

Update the Firmware

When a new firmware version is available, the CMS indicates that an update is ready.

Automatic Updates

By default, the Butler checks for firmware updates automatically. When an update is available, a notification may be shown in the CMS.

Manual Update

To trigger a firmware update manually:

1. Navigate to your Butler in the Devices section of the CMS.
2. Open the Settings or Firmware panel.
3. If an update is available, an Update Firmware button is shown.
4. Click Update Firmware to start the process.
5. The Butler downloads and installs the new firmware. This can take a few minutes.

Caution

Do not disconnect the Butler from power or the network during a firmware update. Interrupting the update process can cause the device to stop working and require manual recovery.

During the Update

While the firmware update is running:

• The Butler’s LED indicator may blink or change color to signal the update.
• Paired actuators do not respond to commands until the update is complete.
• The Butler restarts automatically after the update.
• The CMS shows the updated firmware version as soon as the Butler reconnects.

After the Update

Once the update is complete:

1. Check that the Butler is shown as Online in the CMS.
2. Confirm that the new firmware version is shown in the device details.
3. Test a paired actuator to make sure commands work correctly.

Troubleshooting

Problem	Solution
Butler does not come back online after the update	Wait 5 minutes, then restart the Butler (unplug the power adapter and plug it back in).
Firmware update button not visible	Your Butler may already be on the latest version. Check the version number.
Update fails or aborts	Make sure the network connection is stable. Try the update again. If the problem persists, contact viewneo support.
Paired devices no longer respond after the update	Restart the Butler. In rare cases, the actuators need to be paired again.

Note

Firmware updates are provided by viewneo and tested before release. If problems occur after an update, contact viewneo support with your Butler serial number and firmware version.
