Pair Zigbee Devices

After connecting and activating your Butler, you can pair Zigbee-compatible actuators such as lights, power outlets, and motors. This page explains the pairing process step by step.

  • The Butler is connected to your network and assigned in the CMS. See Activate Butler.
  • You have one or more Zigbee-compatible actuators ready.
  • The actuators are within radio range of the Butler (typically 10—30 meters indoors).

Each Zigbee actuator has a specific method to enter pairing mode. This varies by manufacturer and device type. Common methods include:

  • Smart plugs / outlets — Press and hold the button on the device for 5—10 seconds until the LED blinks rapidly.
  • Smart bulbs — Power cycle the bulb (turn off and on) several times in quick succession (typically 5 times).
  • Motors / relays — Use the reset button or follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
  1. Log in to the viewneo CMS at cms.viewneo.com.
  2. Navigate to Devices and select your Butler.
  3. Open the Butler Settings panel.
  4. Click Add Device to start the pairing scan.
  5. The Butler will search for nearby Zigbee devices in pairing mode.
  1. Once the actuator is found, it will appear in the list of discovered devices.
  2. Select the device and confirm the pairing.

After successful pairing:

  1. Give the actuator a descriptive name (e.g., “Shelf Light Left”, “Outlet Display 1”).
  2. Optionally assign it to a category or group for easier management.
  3. Save the configuration.

The actuator is now paired with the Butler and can be controlled from the CMS.

  • Proximity — During pairing, place the actuator as close to the Butler as possible. You can move it to its final location after pairing is complete.
  • One at a time — Pair actuators one at a time to avoid confusion. Only put one device into pairing mode at a time.
  • Interference — Other Zigbee networks or WiFi routers on the 2.4 GHz band may cause interference. If pairing fails, try moving the Butler or actuator away from potential sources of interference.
  • Timeout — The pairing scan has a timeout. If the actuator is not detected, cancel and retry. Make sure the actuator is still in pairing mode.

The Butler supports a wide range of Zigbee-compatible devices, including:
