Activate RFID Hub
This guide walks you through the initial setup of the viewneo RFID system. The process covers hardware installation, network connection, and registration in the viewneo CMS.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”Before you begin, make sure you have:
- An RFID gateway and at least one RFID reader.
- Cables to connect the reader(s) to the gateway (included with the hardware).
- A network cable (Ethernet) to connect the gateway to your local network.
- A viewneo player connected to the same network.
- An active viewneo account with the RFID Plugin enabled.
Step 1: Install the RFID Hardware
Section titled “Step 1: Install the RFID Hardware”Mount the RFID Reader
Section titled “Mount the RFID Reader”The RFID reader must be mounted underneath the shelf surface where the products will be placed.
- Identify the shelf or display area where products with RFID tags will be positioned.
- Mount the RFID reader on the underside of the shelf, directly below the product placement area.
- Secure the reader using the provided mounting hardware (screws, adhesive pads, or brackets, depending on the model).
Connect the Reader to the Gateway
Section titled “Connect the Reader to the Gateway”- Connect the RFID reader to the RFID gateway using the provided cable.
- If you have multiple readers, connect each one to the gateway. The gateway supports multiple reader inputs.
Connect the Gateway to the Network
Section titled “Connect the Gateway to the Network”- Connect the RFID gateway to your local network using an Ethernet cable.
- Plug in the gateway’s power adapter.
- Wait for the gateway to boot up. The indicator LED will signal when the device is ready.
The gateway will obtain a network address automatically via DHCP.
Step 2: Register the RFID Hub in the CMS
Section titled “Step 2: Register the RFID Hub in the CMS”Once the hardware is connected and powered on, the RFID Hub will be auto-detected in the viewneo CMS.
- Log in to your viewneo account at cms.viewneo.com.
- Navigate to Devices in the main menu.
- Locate the RFID Hub in your device list. It will appear as a new, unassigned device.
- Click on the RFID Hub entry to open its settings.
- Assign the RFID Hub to the appropriate device group or directly to a specific player.
Verifying the Connection
Section titled “Verifying the Connection”After registration, verify that the RFID Hub is online and communicating:
- In the CMS, navigate to the RFID Hub’s device detail page.
- Check that the status indicator shows Online.
- Verify that the connected readers are detected and listed.
If the RFID Hub shows as Offline:
- Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the gateway.
- Confirm the gateway has power (check the LED indicator).
- Restart the gateway by unplugging and re-plugging the power adapter.
- Ensure no network firewall is blocking communication.
