RFID Bulk Events
When managing a large number of products with RFID tags, creating individual events for each tag can be time-consuming. RFID Bulk Events allow you to define rules that apply to multiple tags at once, streamlining the setup process for larger installations.
When to Use Bulk Events
Section titled “When to Use Bulk Events”Bulk events are useful when:
- You have many products with RFID tags that need similar event configurations.
- Multiple tags should trigger the same type of action (e.g., all tags in a product category display content from the same template).
- You want to update event rules across many tags simultaneously.
- You are setting up a new installation with dozens or hundreds of products.
Creating Bulk Events
Section titled “Creating Bulk Events”- Log in to the viewneo CMS at cms.viewneo.com.
- Navigate to the RFID Plugin section.
- Open the Bulk Events tab (or the equivalent bulk management interface).
- Click Create Bulk Rule.
Step 1: Select Tags
Section titled “Step 1: Select Tags”Choose the tags that the bulk rule should apply to:
- Select individually — Check the boxes next to specific tags from your tag list.
- Select by group — If you have organized tags into groups (e.g., by product category), select an entire group.
- Select all — Apply the rule to all registered tags.
Step 2: Define the Rule
Section titled “Step 2: Define the Rule”Configure the event rule that will apply to all selected tags:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Trigger | The event type (Tag Lifted, Tag Placed, Tag Changed). |
| Action Type | What should happen: display content, switch playlist, trigger webhook, return to default. |
| Content Assignment | How content is mapped. Options may include: specific content for all, or template-based content that uses the tag’s individual content assignment. |
| Player / Player Group | Which player(s) should respond to the events. |
Step 3: Review and Apply
Section titled “Step 3: Review and Apply”- Review the summary showing how many tags are affected and what rule will be applied.
- Click Apply to create the bulk events.
- The system will generate individual event entries for each selected tag based on the defined rule.
Managing Bulk Events
Section titled “Managing Bulk Events”Editing a Bulk Rule
Section titled “Editing a Bulk Rule”If you need to change the rule for a group of tags:
- Navigate to the Bulk Events tab.
- Select the bulk rule you want to modify.
- Update the trigger, action, or tag selection.
- Click Save. The changes will apply to all tags covered by the rule.
Removing Tags from a Bulk Rule
Section titled “Removing Tags from a Bulk Rule”- Open the bulk rule.
- Deselect the tags you want to remove from the rule.
- Save the changes.
The deselected tags will no longer have events generated by this bulk rule. You can then create individual events for them if needed.
Deleting a Bulk Rule
Section titled “Deleting a Bulk Rule”- Open the bulk rule.
- Click Delete Rule.
- Confirm the deletion.
Example: Retail Store with 50 Products
Section titled “Example: Retail Store with 50 Products”A retail store has 50 products, each with an RFID tag and individual content assigned:
- Bulk Rule 1 — Trigger: Tag Lifted. Action: Display the tag’s individually assigned content. Applied to all 50 tags.
- Bulk Rule 2 — Trigger: Tag Placed. Action: Return to default playlist. Applied to all 50 tags.
This creates 100 events (2 per tag) with just two bulk rules, instead of creating 100 individual events manually.
Best Practices
Section titled “Best Practices”- Organize tags into groups before creating bulk rules. Group by product category, shelf location, or store section.
- Use consistent naming conventions for tags and content. This makes it easier to review and troubleshoot bulk rules.
- Test with a small group first before applying a bulk rule to all tags. Verify that the trigger and action work as expected.
- Document your bulk rules in a spreadsheet or internal notes so your team understands the event logic.
