RFID Firmware

Keeping the RFID Hub firmware up to date ensures reliable tag detection, compatibility with the latest CMS features, and stable operation. This page explains how to check the current firmware version and perform updates.

  1. Log in to the viewneo CMS at cms.viewneo.com.
  2. Navigate to Devices and select your RFID Hub.
  3. Open the Device Info or Settings panel.
  4. The current firmware version is displayed in the device details.

When a new firmware version is available, the CMS will indicate that an update is ready for your RFID Hub.

The RFID Hub periodically checks for firmware updates. If an update is available, you may see a notification in the CMS device list or the RFID Hub’s detail page.

To manually trigger a firmware update:

  1. Navigate to your RFID Hub in the Devices section of the CMS.
  2. Open the Settings or Firmware panel.
  3. If an update is available, an Update Firmware button will be displayed.
  4. Click Update Firmware to start the process.
  5. The RFID Hub will download and install the new firmware. This may take a few minutes.

While the firmware update is in progress:

  • The RFID Hub’s LED indicator may blink or change color to signal the update.
  • RFID tag detection will be paused until the update is complete.
  • The RFID Hub will restart automatically after the update finishes.
  • The CMS will display the updated firmware version once the Hub reconnects.

Once the update is complete:

  1. Verify that the RFID Hub appears Online in the CMS.
  2. Confirm the new firmware version is displayed in the device details.
  3. Test tag detection by lifting a tagged product from the shelf and checking that the correct content is triggered.
  4. Verify that all connected readers are listed and operational.

RFID Hub does not come back online after updateWait 5 minutes, then power cycle the Hub (unplug and re-plug the power adapter).
Firmware update button not visibleYour Hub may already be on the latest version. Check the version number against the latest release notes.
Update fails or times outEnsure a stable network connection. Retry the update. If the problem persists, contact viewneo support.
Tag detection unreliable after updateRestart the RFID Hub. Check reader connections. In rare cases, re-register the Hub in the CMS.
Connected readers not detected after updateDisconnect and reconnect the reader cables. Restart the RFID Hub.
