YouTube Plugin

The YouTube Plugin lets you embed YouTube videos directly into your playlists and display them on your digital signage screens — ideal for product videos, training content, or company presentations.

Prerequisites

• An active viewneo subscription that includes the YouTube Plugin
• At least one registered player

Note

The YouTube Plugin is a Content Plugin that must be activated separately in your subscription. You can check whether it’s included under Account > Subscription > Add-on Plans. Learn how to activate plugins in the article Activate Plugins.

Creating a YouTube Video Content

Step 1: Open the Media Library

1. Navigate to the Media Library in the sidebar
2. Right-click in the content area to open the context menu
3. Select YouTube Video from the list of content types

Step 2: Configure the Video

The settings dialog offers the following options:

Setting	Description
YouTube URL or ID	The full YouTube URL (e.g., https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...) or just the video ID (e.g., dQw4w9WgXcQ)
Quality	Set the desired playback quality (Auto, or a specific resolution)
Show caption	Whether to display the video title as a caption overlay

Tip

You can enter either the full YouTube URL or just the video ID — both work. You’ll find the video ID in the URL after watch?v=.

Step 3: Save and Add to Playlist

1. Click Save to create the YouTube content
2. The new content appears in your media library
3. Add the content to a playlist as usual

Caution

Make sure the player has an active internet connection so that YouTube videos can be played. Without an internet connection, the content cannot be loaded.

Can I embed YouTube playlists?

The YouTube Plugin supports embedding individual videos. To play multiple videos, create a separate YouTube content item for each video and add them to your viewneo playlist.

Are YouTube videos played offline?

No. YouTube videos are streamed live and require an active internet connection on the player.
