Kiosk Mode Plugin
The Kiosk Mode Plugin locks your player devices so that only the viewneo app is visible. This prevents unauthorized access to the Android system — ideal for publicly accessible displays.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- An active viewneo subscription that includes the Kiosk Mode Plugin
- At least one registered viewneo device
What Kiosk Mode Does
Section titled “What Kiosk Mode Does”When Kiosk Mode is active, the following applies:
- No access to the Home button or Back button
- No access to Android settings
- No access to other apps
- Only viewneo content is visible on the screen
Additionally, an alarm can be set up that triggers if the device is moved without permission.
Setting Up Kiosk Mode
Section titled “Setting Up Kiosk Mode”Kiosk Mode can be configured for both individual devices and device groups.
Step 1: Open Device Settings
Section titled “Step 1: Open Device Settings”- Navigate to Devices in the sidebar
- Select a device group or an individual device
- In the settings (right side), click on the Kiosk Mode tab
Step 2: Activate Kiosk Mode
Section titled “Step 2: Activate Kiosk Mode”Select the desired option from the dropdown menu:

| Off | Kiosk Mode is disabled — normal access to the Android system |
| On | Kiosk Mode is active — only viewneo is visible |
| Secured by PIN | Kiosk Mode is active and additionally protected by a PIN |
| Inherit from Group | The device uses the setting from its device group |
Step 3: Set a PIN (Optional)
Section titled “Step 3: Set a PIN (Optional)”If you selected Secured by PIN:
- Enter a PIN (default:
0000) - This PIN is required to unlock Kiosk Mode on the device
Step 4: Save
Section titled “Step 4: Save”Click Save. The setting will be transferred to the player during the next sync.
Disabling Kiosk Mode
Section titled “Disabling Kiosk Mode”Kiosk Mode can only be disabled through the viewneo CMS:
- Open the device settings in the CMS
- Set Kiosk Mode to Off
- Click Save
- The player will apply the change during the next sync
Emergency Unlock on the Device
Section titled “Emergency Unlock on the Device”If you need access to the device on-site:
- Tap the screen 5 times quickly
- A PIN dialog appears
- Enter the configured PIN (default:
0000)
Use Cases
Section titled “Use Cases”Retail
Section titled “Retail”Lock displays in shop windows or sales areas so that customers or staff don’t accidentally leave the viewneo app.
Healthcare
Section titled “Healthcare”Protect info displays in waiting areas of clinics and practices from unauthorized tampering.
Corporate
Section titled “Corporate”Secure displays in meeting rooms and reception areas so that only the intended content is shown.
Frequently Asked Questions

Section titled “Do I need a separate Kiosk Mode Plugin for each device?”No. The Kiosk Mode Plugin is only needed once per account and applies to all devices in your account.
What happens if I forget the PIN?
Section titled “What happens if I forget the PIN?”The PIN can be viewed and changed at any time in the CMS under the device’s Kiosk Mode settings.
