Screen Sync Plugin

The Screen Sync Plugin synchronizes multiple players to play the same or different content in a coordinated manner across multiple screens. This lets you create video walls, synchronized displays, or interactive multi-screen setups.

  • An active viewneo subscription that includes the Screen Sync Plugin
  • Multiple registered viewneo players
  • All players must be on the same local network

The Screen Sync Plugin supports three different modes:

ModeDescription
Splitted Content (Video Wall)One piece of content is split across multiple screens (e.g., 2×2 video wall)
Synchronized ContentAll screens display the same content simultaneously
Multi ContentEach screen shows different content, coordinated by a controller

In all modes, a controller player manages the timing of the other players. The controller dictates when which content is played.

The controller does not need to be connected to a screen — it serves solely for control purposes. The connection between controller and players is established via Events.

This mode lets you create a video wall where one piece of content is distributed across multiple screens — e.g., a large video on 4 displays (2×2).

  1. Use 5 players for a 2×2 video wall: 4 players for the screens + 1 controller
  2. Prepare the content so it’s split into 4 parts — each part corresponds to one screen section
  3. Create a separate playlist for each of the 4 players with the respective content section
  4. Create an Event from the controller player that synchronizes the 4 players

After event creation, you can verify in the device overview whether the connection between controller and players was established:

  • Closed chain: Connection successful
  • Green dot: Device is online

All screens play the same content simultaneously.

  1. Assign all players the same playlist
  2. The controller dictates the timing of when which content is played
  3. Create an Event that synchronizes the players with the controller

Each screen shows different content, coordinated by the controller. This enables interactive setups with touch displays, for example.

A tablet and 2 screens are synchronized. When a visitor selects content via touch on the tablet, both screens show their respective assigned content.

  1. Create a separate playlist for each device with the respective content
  2. Create an Event on the controller that controls when the touch content is displayed on the tablet
  3. Create an Event in the tablet playlist that controls the content on both screens upon interaction

Four screens form a large video wall showing an impressive brand video in the shop window to attract passers-by.

Multiple displays on different floors of an office building synchronously show the same corporate news and KPI dashboards.

A touch tablet in the hotel lobby controls two large screens: guests select a topic on the tablet, and the screens show matching content.

Do all players need to be on the same network?

Section titled “Do all players need to be on the same network?”

Yes. All synchronized players must be on the same local network and be able to discover each other.

Does the controller need to be connected to a screen?

Section titled “Does the controller need to be connected to a screen?”

No. The controller player does not need to be connected to a screen — it serves solely for control and synchronization.

The number of players depends on your setup and network. For stable synchronization, we recommend a dedicated network with minimal other traffic.

Can I combine Screen Sync with Touch Elements?

Section titled “Can I combine Screen Sync with Touch Elements?”

Yes. The Screen Sync Plugin can be combined with the Touch Elements Plugin — ideal for interactive multi-screen installations.
