Template Plugin

The Template Plugin lets you create slide templates from which you can generate any number of content items. Changes to the template affect all slides based on it — in just one step.

  • An active viewneo subscription that includes the Template Plugin
  • Central updates: Change multiple content items at once by simply updating the template
  • Consistent design: All slides based on a template share a consistent look
  • Access control: Define which elements can be edited by users and which cannot
  • Time savings: Design recurring content once and reuse it as many times as needed

After activating the plugin, two new menu items are available in the media library: Create Template and Create from Template.

  1. Navigate to the Media Library in the sidebar
  2. Right-click in the content area
  3. Select Create Template

Creating a template works like creating a regular slide — with one important addition:

For each element (e.g., text field, image), you can enable or disable the Can be edited option:

OptionDescription
EnabledThe element can be edited in slides created from this template
DisabledThe element remains unchangeable in all derived slides

Click Save. The template is now available in the media library.

  1. Right-click in the media library
  2. Select Create from Template
  3. Choose the desired template as the base

In the new slide, you can only edit elements that were marked as Can be edited in the template. All other elements are locked and retain the template’s design.

Click Save. The slide can then be added to a playlist like any other content item.

Headquarters creates a template with fixed corporate design (logo, colors, layout). Franchisees can only change the editable fields — e.g., product names, prices, and local offers.

Create an offer template with a uniform design. For each store, a slide with the respective products and prices is generated — quickly and consistently.

Use templates for standardized information displays (e.g., office hours, department info), where only the respective data is customized per location.

Changes to the template affect all slides based on it — the non-editable elements are automatically updated.

What’s the difference between a slide and a template?

Section titled “What’s the difference between a slide and a template?”

A slide is a single content item. A template is a blueprint from which any number of slides can be generated.
