Manage Permissions
Permissions control what each user can see and do in the viewneo CMS. The Super User configures permissions when adding a user and can update them at any time.
How Permissions Work
Section titled “How Permissions Work”Each functional area of the CMS can be assigned one of three access levels per user:
| Level | Description |
|---|---|
| No access | No checkmark — the area is completely hidden from the user |
| Read | The user can view the area but cannot make changes |
| Write | The user can view and edit content in the area |
Configurable Areas
Section titled “Configurable Areas”Permissions can be set independently for each CMS section:
- Content — Media library, uploads, content creation
- Playlists — Playlist creation and management
- Devices — Device and device group management
- Plugins — Plugin activation and configuration
- User Management — Managing other users (typically restricted to Super Users)
- Settings — Account and subscription settings
Setting Permissions
Section titled “Setting Permissions”- Go to the User section in the CMS
- Click on the user you want to configure
- In the Permissions section, check or uncheck the boxes for each area:
- Check Read to grant view-only access
- Check Write to grant full editing access
- Leave unchecked to hide the area completely
- Save the changes
Best Practices
Section titled “Best Practices”- Content creators — Give write access to Content and Playlists, read access to Devices
- Location managers — Give write access to Playlists and Devices, read access to Content
- Viewers — Give read-only access to the areas they need to monitor
