Manage Permissions

Permissions control what each user can see and do in the viewneo CMS. The Super User configures permissions when adding a user and can update them at any time.

Each functional area of the CMS can be assigned one of three access levels per user:

LevelDescription
No accessNo checkmark — the area is completely hidden from the user
ReadThe user can view the area but cannot make changes
WriteThe user can view and edit content in the area

Permissions can be set independently for each CMS section:

  • Content — Media library, uploads, content creation
  • Playlists — Playlist creation and management
  • Devices — Device and device group management
  • Plugins — Plugin activation and configuration
  • User Management — Managing other users (typically restricted to Super Users)
  • Settings — Account and subscription settings
  1. Go to the User section in the CMS
  2. Click on the user you want to configure
  3. In the Permissions section, check or uncheck the boxes for each area:
    • Check Read to grant view-only access
    • Check Write to grant full editing access
    • Leave unchecked to hide the area completely
  4. Save the changes
  • Content creators — Give write access to Content and Playlists, read access to Devices
  • Location managers — Give write access to Playlists and Devices, read access to Content
  • Viewers — Give read-only access to the areas they need to monitor
