Unreachable addresses

Some content relies on addresses outside viewneo: an RSS feed in a Template or Slide, an external webhook in a routine. When such an address stops responding, you often notice late on the screens. That is why viewneo checks it for you.

  • Media: Templates and Slides with an unreachable feed carry a warning icon – next to the name in the tile view, and as unreachable for 3 days in the list view.
  • Routines: routines with a failing webhook carry the same notice in the list; the editor shows Webhook failing at the top.

Hover over the notice to see the address and the last error, e.g. HTTP 404.

  • Feeds are fetched once every night. A night counts as an outage when the address still does not respond, or returns an error, on the second attempt.
  • Webhooks are never called just to test them – that would trigger something at the receiver. Instead we count your routine’s real calls. A day counts as an outage when all calls on that day failed. Days without a call do not count.
  • As soon as the address responds again, the notice disappears.

Feed: open the address in your browser. If the provider has changed it, enter the new address under External feed in the Designer. If you no longer need the feed, remove it from the Template or Slide.

Webhook: check the Webhook URL in the routine and whether the target system is running and accepts requests. The routine’s log also shows the last error.
